Our District
District 1 is home. Let me tell you about our neighborhood.
District 1 covers 11.7 square miles in the northernmost part of Irvine and is home to approximately 60,000 residents across some of the city’s most vibrant and diverse communities. From the established neighborhoods of Northpark and Northwood Pointe to the newer homes of Orchard Hills and Stonegate, District 1 is where families put down roots, kids grow up in great schools, and neighbors still know each other by name.
Our district is richly served by 10 city parks, 45 parks overall, 11 schools, 3 shopping centers, 2 fire stations, and 1 library. We have 12.7 miles of trails winding through our neighborhoods and open hillsides, and nearly 3,580 acres of Irvine open space that our community treasures. That open land is also why fire mitigation is a real and present concern for District 1 families living near the wildland urban interface.
Traffic is something every District 1 resident feels every day, whether it is on Culver Drive or navigating our local streets during the morning and evening commute. It is one of the issues I hear about most from neighbors and one I am committed to addressing directly.
District 1 was established as part of Irvine’s transition to district-based elections, with our first district election taking place in 2024 and the next in 2026. That means this coming November is only the second time District 1 residents will elect their own dedicated council member. It matters who that person is.
I have lived here continuously for 26 years. I know these streets, these schools, and these neighborhoods the way only a longtime resident can. District 1 deserves a council member who is as invested in this community as the people who live here. That is exactly what I intend to be.
